- Use Latin-1 encoding. (What’s really nice about the Latin-1 encoding is that if you have smart quotes in Word, they will automatically be turned into the named entities (“ and ” and ’) when pasted into a Dreamweaver document whose page properties specify the Latin-1 encoding. Unfortunately, you’re better off using the UTF-8 encoding if you’re creating an .epub.
