Amazon Kindle check list

The .mobi format the Amazon Kindle uses is very, very simple, and it’s important to remember what you must and cannot do. First up are the don’ts:
  • No tables
  • No frames
Next are the musts:
  • Use Latin-1 encoding. (What’s really nice about the Latin-1 encoding is that if you have smart quotes in Word, they will automatically be turned into the named entities (“ and ” and ’) when pasted into a Dreamweaver document whose page properties specify the Latin-1 encoding. Unfortunately, you’re better off using the UTF-8 encoding if you’re creating an .epub.
